Absolutely.
You have given your dog the greatest gift of all...the gift of freedom. If your dog is stupid and gets itself run over...well...God's will be done.
I felt like 'leaving my door open' myself this morning when my dog crapped on the floor by the front door and I stepped in it. Again.
